Join the Stars

Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the Southtowns Stars, as a player or parent. We're excited for another great year of Stars hockey and can't wait for you to join us in making this year the best yet. Please read below to understand the registration process and how you can join a team.

Requirements

To register to become a Southtowns Stars player, you must have registered with USA Hockey for the season you wish to register for.  There cannot be any exceptions to this, you will be blocked from team registration without your USA Hockey confirmation number.


In addition, your team will likely require a deposit to hold your place on the team. These can vary per team so we strongly recommend you review the informational pages below to understand more about the teams, costs/deposits, and more for the level you're interested in playing:


Tryouts

For all players except those in Rising Stars, tryout information is as follows:


  • All tryouts are at Leisure Rinks on a date/time to be determined by the team you're trying out for.
  • Player must have completed a Tryout Registration form.
  • There is a $25 fee for Tryout Registration, which will be collected upon completion of the form.
  • The official link for Tryout Registration will be posted before tryouts. See the section below for more details.
  • Please note: individual teams may reach out to you prior to the official Tryout Registration being available, in order to gauge interest for their team. This is not a substitute for filling out the Tryout Registration form.

Tryout registration

The 2026-27 Tryouts have passed. Keep an eye out later in the year for information on future tryouts.

Making a team

Following team tryouts, coaches of individual teams will be solely responsible for deciding which players have made their team and those who have not. Please work with the coaches your player has tried out with to ask questions or get more information, as needed.


Once you've confirmed you've made a team, you'll have a checklist of things to complete including a few items that will need to be completed the same day as your tryout:


  • Sign a contract with Southtowns Stars, confirming you're on the team.
  • Pay deposit due on contract signing.
  • Register your player with the Team Registration (see below).

Our Mission

TeamSnap Sports was founded with a simple goal: to give every child in our community the chance to play, learn, and grow through sports. What started as a small soccer league with 10 teams has grown into a multi-sport organization serving over 2,000 families annually.


We believe that sports are about more than just winning. They are a vehicle for teaching life lessons, building resilience, and fostering lifelong friendships. Our recreational leagues prioritize equal playing time and skill development over competition, ensuring that every player feels valued.


As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we reinvest all proceeds into field maintenance, equipment upgrades, and scholarship programs for families in financial need.
